Socialism is being used as a "monster in the closet", by the right; and a mislabeled ideology, by the left. It's all just talking points, so that we'll stay ignorant and controllable (this is a personal opinion; I love my country, just not my government). What We the People should never become is an Oligarchy....oops; we blinked. It's too late.
Socialism - a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
Oligarchy - a form of government in which all power is vested in a few persons or in a dominant class or clique; government by the few.
The Oligarchy, currently running the show, is the Billionaire Class. They've been purchasing our government for decades; even to the point of getting the law makers to declare the right of personhood to Corporate America! That is phenomenally ridiculous; businesses are run by people, but they are not people, in and of themselves. But, here we are....and their poster boy is occupying the Oval Office!
Social programs (not a socialist government) are taxpayer funded, and created to benefit the community, as a whole. Here's a handful of examples….
- US Military
- Highways/Roads
- Bridges
- Public Libraries
- Public Schools
- Police Dept.
- Fire Dept.
- Garbage Collection
- Congressional Health care
- Public Health care
- Social Security/SSI
- Public Parks
- Elected Government (we pay their salaries)
- Court System
- Metro Buses
Really?? You'd rather pay trillions of dollars, so that thousands of people can die in the Endless War; than to pay billions of dollars, so every American citizen can have quality health insurance?? Wake up, and smell the propaganda!! This link, here, will shed some light on what Medicare for All is all about; if you care to enlighten yourself.
The ONLY reason the Republicans are against progress (in any way, shape, or form) is because it screws up their agenda! We the People deserve better!!

Speaking of controlling women; Planned Parenthood uses government funding for services like STD testing, cancer screening, sex education, birth control, and general health care services. THESE are the services the “defund legislation” will put a stop to; NECESSARY health care services….not abortions! Abortions were happening before Roe v Wade became a thing; but they were not safe, and resulted in the deaths of those living women. Abortions will continue to happen, after the government overturns that piece of legislation; but they will, once again, be unsafe and life-threatening.
“Planned Parenthood cannot use the money it receives from the federal government for abortions anyway. According to the Department of Health and Human Services website, "by law, Title X funds may not be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning." And now we have a laundry list of states, passing anti-abortion legislation! When did the United States of America become a society that cared more about the survival of an unwanted pregnancy, than we do that of a living, breathing human? I gave a brief biology lesson on the life of a fetus, in a previous blog post; you can read about that, here. But what about the sentient population? When did we stop caring about each other?
Facts about living, breathing human beings in America…
- 2.3-3.5 million American citizens are homeless; 1.5 million of them are children
- 12% of the adult homeless population are military veterans
- 40 million American citizens struggle with hunger
- 12 million of them are children
- 45,000 American citizens die, each year, due to lack of health care
- Uninsured, working-age Americans have a 40% higher risk of early death, than workers with insurance
- The US education system is failing our children
- Lack of funding causes public schools to cut back on curriculum, hire fewer qualified teachers, or close down
- There are 96,448 humans in Flint, MI who STILL don't have clean water; and they're all being forced to pay their water bills, while they struggle to find enough money to purchase bottled water for drinking, and household use
- Not to mention the contaminated water in CA, TN, NE, TX, WI, NV, FL and NM
- The humans living in Puerto Rico (they are American citizens, by the way) are still struggling to rebuild, because relief aid has been withheld, until recently
- their territory was devastated by hurricanes, in 2017
Why these sentient beings are less important than a creature who doesn't even know it exists (a fetus), is something of a mystery to me.
Have you also noticed there's been an alarming number of mass shootings, lately? And, instead of making it more difficult for rageaholics to own/acquire firearms, the general populous is told to go rabid over a fictitious fear of losing their 2nd Amendment rights, whenever we're faced with another mass shooting. There were 152 mass shootings in the United States, between 1967 and May 2018; and roughly 150 mass shootings, so far, this year. Hundreds of thousands of human lives destroyed, and we still have the right to own a gun.
It's time for the Republicans and Democrats to work together, stop kowtowing to special interest groups, stop lying to their constituents, and stop looking for ways to oppress marginalized groups of people! They work for US...we voted them into office!! We the People deserve a government that is willing and able to help us grow and evolve, as time allows; one that will nurture and encourage every citizen to live, be free, and pursue happiness. We deserve a government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for...the people.
The easiest way to improve the lives of We the People, would be to tax the wealthy; if all of these people paid their fair share of income taxes, the national debt would be eliminated! We would also be better able to balance the federal budget. And, with all that added revenue, we'd be able to improve the lives of millions of Americans; including yours. Eisenhower (a Republican) did it, successfully; we can do it, too!

The American Dream should be something EVERY citizen chases; but not every citizen has the advantages the wealthy have; which makes it harder for them to chase their dreams. If we taxed the rich, we would be able to end hunger, homelessness, and unemployment. We would also be able to improve our education system, rebuild infrastructure, provide top-notch health care for everyone; and ensure that all Americans have nutrient dense food to eat, and a clean water supply to drink.
Don't worry...the wealthy would still be wealthy, the Military Industrial Complex would still function, and you will still have your jobs; if you've been told taxing the wealthy would collapse the economy, you've been lied to. Stop believing the fear-mongering propaganda! The only difference you would see, is life would be much more stable and secure for everyone.
You want the government to "stop giving poor people free stuff”; right? I refer you back to the list of taxpayer funded programs/services We the People enjoy; those are "free" too; and YOU use some of them! And let's not forget, the $639 billion spent on the Military Industrial Complex, the $70 billion a year we spend on subsidizing Wall Street, the $38 billion in subsidies given to Big Oil Companies, the $2.1 trillion that Fortune 500 Corporations are stashing abroad, to avoid paying US taxes; and the $153 billion a year we spend to subsidize McDonald's & Wal-Mart’s low-wage workers. Minimum wage workers rely on Food Stamps, to feed their families, because their paychecks don't stretch as far as they need to; I know this to be a fact, because I've lived it!
I hope this Reality Check has opened your eyes. The Billionaire Class are the ones who are keeping the rest of us from reaching our true potential. We need to take our country back, from them, and BE the greatest nation the world has ever known!
