Democrat vs Republican: Taking America's Temperature

The political climate is heating up, these days; more and more issues are becoming political talking points, as the candidates race to the Nominee "finish line".  And the Conservative and Liberal labels have become synonymous with Republican and Democrat (respectively).

I'd like to take some time to outline the ideals of both sides, because it seems that we've all become too occupied with dartboards; that is, we're much too busy jabbing at each other for being on opposite sides, to even understand what either party is about, anymore.

First, let me make one thing crystal clear...Socialism is not the same as Democratic Socialism. Stop believing the anti-Left propaganda! Today's Democrats have made the news with their "fair is fair" ideals; and have been ruffling feathers, for some time now, due in large part to the anti-Left propaganda. They are Democratic Socialists...not Communists.

"While there are certainly key similarities in the philosophy's of Communism and Socialism, there are differences that make considering them interchangeable incorrect. The most fundamental difference is that under Communism individuals are provided for or compensated based on their needs, in effect meaning that in a true communist system you wouldn't have money and you'd simply be given what the government thinks you need in terms of food, clothing, accommodation, etc." (click here to read this article)

"Democratic socialists do not want to create an all-powerful government bureaucracy. But we do not want big corporate bureaucracies to control our society either. Rather, we believe that social and economic decisions should be made by those whom they most affect." (click here to read this article)

As a collective entity, the United States government should be working TOGETHER, to meet the needs of We the People...military, laws, safety net programs, etc. But for the last 80+ years the two major political parties have been playing tug-of-war, in an effort to become all-powerful. They even went so far as to switch platforms, at one point. You can read about how they managed that, by clicking this link.

Fast forward to present day, and things are changing, once again. The Republicans have been purchased by Corporate America; they are more interested in the well-being of Big Biz, than that of We the People. And the Democrats are feverishly scrambling to bring that to light, as well as get the United States government to govern according to the Constitution, as they should.

The entire government, all branches, all sub-groups...everything....should be run according to this document.  And, in my opinion, since so many people believe that document to be a living entity, it's time that we update it to reflect the fact that we now live in the 21st century.

The dictionary definition of "conservative" is....holding to traditional attitudes and values and cautious about change or innovation, typically in relation to politics or religion. And there's nothing wrong with that; except there is everything wrong with that, when you try to force an entire nation to adhere to your traditional attitudes and values. Notice the word "cautious"? The definition doesn't say resistant to, it says cautious about; life is meant to move forward. Times are meant to change. Change isn't always bad; it's how we grow, not only as a nation, but also as individuals. It's ok to adapt to new and forward-thinking ideals.

Let me ask you a question. If we're going to be stuck paying taxes, because we work for a living, why shouldn't those moneys be used to benefit the lives of We the People?
  • Single-payer comprehensive quality healthcare for all of us
  • 16 years of quality public education, for all of us (or at least, those who want to go to college)
  • State of the art equipment and facilities for all schools (Pre-K through college)
  • Free nutritious breakfasts and lunches for all children in Pre-K through 12th Grade
  • Bridges, highways, dams, etc. all repaired and functioning adequately
That's just a short list, but why don't you want those things to be a reality? They benefit you, too!!

If your answer to that question is "I don't want my tax dollars to help lazy freeloaders!" then you are not only ignorant, you're also greedy and selfish. You are part of the problem!

Has it ever occurred to you that the United States Military is a single-payer system? We pay taxes, and the government allocates a portion of those taxes to the Military budget; what's the big deal about using tax money to take care of our people, or educated them? That's what our tax dollars are supposed to be used for....to benefit We the People, by and large.

Take a look at this meme...

All these taxes and fees (and I'm sure that's not the entire list), are supposed to be useful. How many of them do you benefit from? How many of them do you believe are not necessary? With all these fees and taxes being taken from us, on a daily basis, it's no wonder We the People can't get ahead in life!

The Republican party is all about wealth and power; they are Corporate America's darlings. The Democratic party of today, is doing it's best to see that the United States government is of the people, by the people and for the people.

Who's side are you on?
