Support the Troops!

Today is Veteran's Day; the day we're supposed to show gratitude toward the Military, for serving their country. But what are they doing that deserves our gratitude?

First, let me say, the United States government doesn't "Support the Troops" nearly as well as they should; granted, they have plenty of food, medicine, housing, etc. But, why are we in so many wars, all the time? How many wars did WE start, that didn't need to be started?

War is a highly profitable business. Companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin make billions of dollars in profit, annually. They manufacture and sell things like rockets, airplanes, rotorcraft, satellites, telecommunications equipment, defense systems, and missiles....worldwide. Yes, they supply both sides! Time Magazine ran an article on the five most profitable companies, who make money from endless wars around the world. You can read that article here.

And the Recruiters are out in full force, every time there's a quota to meet. We can't just stop fighting; we have to lure more young people to serve a senseless purpose, and keep the Fat Cats happy! And we don't just go to war, because we were provoked; sometimes we're the ones provoking the hostility.

The Preamble to the Constitution states We the People are to provide for the common defense. United States Military is, literally, all over the globe; here's the link to that list. Wouldn't it be easier to defend our Nation, if we kept all our troops home? We're certainly not at peace with any nation we're currently occupying! Just because we're not at war with England, doesn't mean there's peace between us; it just means we're not destroying each other. Most of the countries we currently occupy don't want us there, in the first place.

When we fought the Revolutionary war, it was supposed to give us the freedom to be our own independent Nation; we took it a step too far, and have been insisting that other nations (including Indigenous People) become carbon copies of us! And when they refuse, we start a war. I don't understand why we need to take over the world. Why can't we just be satisfied with being unique?

And so, I am officially declaring that I will never support or honor a system that places profit over human life; and disregards the Constitution, in its entirety. I will instead pray for the soldiers; and cross my fingers that they wake up, and stop serving Corporate America with their lives.
