My Political Ideologies, in a Nutshell

Yesterday, I was fortunate to have a conversation with someone who opened my eyes, and got me to see how blinded by The Establishment I had become, even though I claim to be a "Free Thinker". Eyes front, Little Girl; play time is over!

I've always voted my conscious; which is why there have been times when I didn't vote, at all. Nothing any of those candidates said, promised, etc ever jived with me. I have never flown a specific party flag, save for one time; and that was a necessary part of survival, at the time. I lived with a staunch Republican, and had nowhere else to call home. If I didn't play the game, I knew I would've either caused strife in the house, or become homeless.

My beliefs are very simple...human beings should be treated like human beings. Full stop. There are no prerequisites or qualifications (sexual orientation, skin color, social status, etc), for any human to live as a human being should. However, there are so many people who believe that you have to earn your rights, or be a certain type of person to be granted rights. That simply isn't true! All human beings, regardless of who they are, have inalienable rights; as well as legal rights.

And I can't stand when I hear people say "if you don't vote, you can't complain!" like the ones who don't vote don't have the right to call themselves citizens of the United States; and all because they chose to sit out the exchange of one evil, for the other….or the same evil, depending on who won the election. If you have a residential address in the United States of America, you have the right to complain about how the country is run; regardless of whether you voted, or not. This is YOUR country, and they are only Public Servants!

In my 50 years of citizenship (I was born in the USA), I have never witnessed a President who catered to the needs of the American people. I've lived through nine Presidents, so far; and none of them have completely fulfilled their Oath of Office, because they are all part of The Establishment. The only Presidents I have respect for, when it comes to how they handled being a Public Servant, are Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy. And I had to learn about them, in school.

Except, they were also part of The Establishment; and scraps off the "banquet table" are all we've been allowed to have. Throughout the history of the United States, those in power are given anything they want; We the People have to ask for what we want, and aren't always given what we ask for. They always seem to stay in power, as well; by telling us what we want to hear, and dividing us against each other, with propaganda. And we've been playing their game for the last 244 years; when are we going to turn the tables, and demand to be treated fairly??

The Billionaire Class, and their favorite politicians (The Establishment), became wealthy off of our blood, sweat and tears; not their own. Corporate America may have started out with nothing; but as soon as they began hiring staff and workers, their part in acquiring their vast riches was over. They also have the mind-set that because they're wealthy (or in positions of power), and we're not, that makes them more important than us. They are just human beings...like us; so are the politicians that run the country. The only difference is that we allowed the politicians to become our rulers, rather than remain Public Servants.

I'm not entirely certain if I'll be voting in the next election, or not. The "lesser of two evils" may be less evil...but it is still evil. I'm more interested in voting for ideals and policies, than for a person; especially when that person's only real goal is to obtain/remain in power. Too many Presidents have abused that power! I'm currently looking into the minor political parties, thanks to the conversation I mentioned at the top of this blog; I'm going to familiarize myself with them, and find out if either of them fits my beliefs and ideologies. If I find my political "glove", they will get my vote!

In addition to what you just read, these are a few principles I believe in...

  • Bodily autonomy is a human right. Women, like men, have the right to decide for themselves how/when/if their bodies will be used; without government, societal, or religious interference.
  • All Lives Matter will only become a true statement, when we view people of color the same as we view White folks. The stigmas surrounding people of color need to end!
  • Government should regulate Corporate America, and protect We the People; not the other way around.
  • War is nothing more than legalized mass murder; and it should be stopped.
  • Every consenting adult is entitled to love who they love, and raise a family if they choose.
  • Private prisons need to be closed down; and only violent criminals (rapists, murderers, etc), or those who harm society (white color criminals, drug dealers, etc) should be given prison sentences.
  • Marijuana should have never been made illegal, in the first place; and should be legalized, and decriminalized, on all levels (local, state and federal).
  • The death penalty needs to be abolished; a life sentence should be the universal penalty for violent crimes.
  • Everyone has the right to a decent education, quality healthcare, a living wage, affordable childcare, access to nutritious food, and a safe place to live.
